For Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs), we strive to meet the "Generally Conforms" standard for the the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. During one of our external reviews several years ago we got dinged because I as the CAE "did not have a seat at the table" at the Senior Management level. That was fixed, but recently there was a restructuring at the Senior Management level and I am no longer in these meetings. How does everyone handle these types of situations? Do any of you feel that you need to have "a seat at the table"? Do you have QARs conducted every five years as required by the IIA?
