For those of you that have passbook accounts, do your passbooks come with a pre-printed control number on them? If so, do you log these books as they are issued? Our books come pre-numbered (control number only not the account number) and branch staff log them as they are issued. We can't seem to figure out why they are pre-numbered as the numbers are not used as a validation/authentication data point anywhere else. So the poll is: Pre-numbered passbooks? Yes or No Any input into why there would be a control number would be helpful!
Our CEO loves passbook accounts and we will not be getting rid of them anytime soon, but the only place we correlate the book number to the account is on the log, it is not entered into our core system, and isn't even referenced when a member takes a secured loan on a passbook account.
