Member-centric vs Account-Centric

Currently we have our system (DataSafe) set up in an account-centric format. For example, I might have several accounts listed under one member number with my spouse as joint owner, and I might have several other accounts listed under a separate member number with no joint owner. In order to view all my accounts, the teller would have to pull up each member number individually. We are considering going to a member-centric format. Essentially this would be organized so that each member would be categorized under a portfolio number, and all their member numbers and accounts could be located in this centralized location with identifiers showing which ones were jointly owned and such. There are several reasons management is considering the change, but it is going to be quite the headache to make this conversion. I'm just trying to get an idea of which format most credit unions are using these days. Are you member-centric or account-centric?       Matt Cromer, CIA   SAC Federal Credit Union
