Trying to understand the Reg E rules on gift cards. Specifically, section 1005.20(e) regarding whether a fee can be charged for cashing out the card. Section "e" deals with expiration dates. Paragraph 4 states that no fee can be charged ....for providing the card holder with the remaining balance in some other manner prior to the funds expiration date unless such card has been lost or stolen. If we send them a check for the remaining balance on the card, are we allowed to charge a fee? Not lost or stolen, they just want to cash out the card. Thanks,Mark Jenkins, Internal AuditorKnoxville TVA Employees Credit Union[email protected]
