Collections Payments

Does your Collections Department receive cash/checks from members, trustees etc?  If so do they post these payments?Our Collections Department has always posted payments instead of the branches posting to a general ledger account and thennotifying Collections.  There seems to be alot of risks involving with the collectors allowed to post payments.  Can you tell me what yourcredit union's Collection department does to handle this process and your asset size?  Thanks so much.
