Audit Scheduling

We come up with an annual audit plan and the general plan approved by the Supervisory Committee indicates which month the audit will be conducted. Internally, IA has an audit calendar by week for 52 weeks.to help us stay on track but we do move things around as needed, and Committee does not hold us to original approved month. We provide the audit plan to CEO and Board chair but without the audit month. Some questions:
1. How much notice do you give mgmt as to when an audit will be conducted? (assuming it is not a surprise cash count)
2. Do you get push-back from managers saying "we don't have time for that right now" (usually meaning my department is too busy to have time to answer your questions and provide docs right now)?
3. What do you do when you get the "we don't have time for an audit right now"?
